Gynecomastia Surgery
Gynecomastia is a condition where men have enlarged breasts that can result from having excess skin, fat, or glandular tissue. This can be caused by genetics, steroid use, or other factors. Gynecomastia can cause men to be self-conscious about the appearance and size of their breasts, and gynecomastia surgery can help reduce the size and improve the appearance of their chest and breasts.
Gynecomastia surgery can be done on adult men dealing with gynecomastia. If you have enlarged breasts or excess tissue, fat, or skin around your chest, gynecomastia surgery might be recommended for you.
Gynecomastia surgery is done by creating small incisions underneath the nipple in the areola. Through these incisions, excess fat and glandular tissue are removed. This tissue can be removed directly or through the use of liposuction. It is done in the office under local anesthesia.
Following gynecomastia surgery, bruising and swelling are expected side effects. You can return home after the procedure is done with some limitations. You will be able to return to work after around a week, drive after a few days, and resume physical exercise after around two weeks.
Gynecomastia surgery results can last up to a lifetime. If the condition is caused by genetic factors, there is a small chance that it can recur—but having a solid exercise and nutrition regimen will greatly reduce this chance. We recommend having a healthy lifestyle to improve the quality of your life regardless.
